Hockey arena update

The Gene Polisseni Center, RIT’s new hockey arena, will feature state-of-the-art amenities and will approximately double the seating capacity of the existing Ritter Arena, which accommodates 2,100 fans. RIT/NTID’s Erin LaFave Headed to NCAA Cross Country National Championships

RIT/NTID student Erin LaFave, a visual media major from Troy, Mich., is one of 280 women from across the United States competing in the Women’s Cross Country Division III NCAA Finals in Oshkosh, Wisc., on November 19.

LaFave was an All-American athlete at Lahser High School in Bloomington Hills, Mich., and competed in the Deaflympics in Taiwan in 2009. Read more.

RIT Named a “Best Buy” School by Fiske Guide to Colleges

Rochester Institute of Technology has been named a “Best Buy” school in the 2012 revised and updated edition of Fiske Guide to Colleges.

RIT is described as “strong in anything related to computing, art and design, and engineering. In the city built by Kodak, photography and imaging are among tops in the nation. RIT is devoted to undergraduates.”

RIT is one out of only 49 other institutions (24 public and 25 private) to have the honor of the Fiske “Best Buy” title.

 

 

SportsZone season 10 premiere

SportsZone’s 10th season premiere episode features a one-on-one conversation with former RIT men’s hockey player Chris Tanev, who became the first former Tiger to play in the NHL and the Stanley Cup Finals last season with Vancouver.

The episode also previews the upcoming RIT’s men’s hockey season and highlights two RIT assistant baseball coaches who are bringing professional experience to the diamond. The annual Mud Tug event, a charity competition, also is featured.
