More than 30,000 visitors came to RIT’s campus on May 4, 2013 to tour the more than 400 interactive exhibits that comprised the sixth annual Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival. The festival showcases the talents and entrepreneurial creativity of RIT students, faculty and staff. More.

RIT men’s lacrosse earns Liberty League title

The RIT men’s lacrosse team held on to beat Clarkson 10-9 in the 2013 Liberty League Men’s Lacrosse Championship on May 5, 2013. With the win, RIT earns the Liberty League title for the second straight year.

Thousands turn out at Cowboys Stadium for RIT’s 28th Big Shot photograph

More than 2,400 volunteers pitched in to capture this spectacular image of Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas–the largest domed stadium in the world.

People from across the country and around the world came together at the world’s largest domed stadium on March 23, 2013 to help make Rochester Institute of Technology’s 28^th Big Shot photograph a success. More than 2,400 volunteers, including RIT faculty, staff and students who traveled to Texas from upstate New York and alumni from the area as well as across the country, provided the primary light source for the Big Shot image while RIT photographers shot an extended exposure with Cowboys Stadium completely dark for the first time in its history.

Since RIT started its Big Shot project in 1987, university photographers have captured such landmarks as The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas; the U.S.S. Intrepid in New York City; and the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden. More.

‘U.S. News’ ranks RIT Saunders College of Business among best

RIT ranked third in aerospace and defense workforce study

Rochester Institute of Technology was named one of the key schools companies prefer when recruiting and hiring in critical skill areas for the aerospace and defense industries, according to a study by Aviation Week.

“This is a significant testimonial to our graduates, delivered directly from aerospace and defense leaders who are in need of talented and skilled workers,” says RIT President Bill Destler. “It demonstrates that our graduates are exceptionally prepared to meet the demanding needs of the industry, a vital innovative sector of the U.S. economy.” More.

Hundreds of job-seeking RIT/NTID students attend NTID Job Fair

About 300 RIT/NTID students and nearly 40 employers from across the country attended the annual NTID Job Fair on October 10, 2012.

Last year, nearly 50 students received co-ops or permanent jobs as a result of the Job Fair, where prospective employers can meet students. On average, more than 90 percent of RIT/NTID students seeking employment find a job within a year of graduation. More.

RIT breaks world record at Mud Tug

RIT students competed in the world’s largest tug-of-war tournament Sept. 22, 2012, working to set a Guinness World Record. At the 17th annual Mud Tug, RIT unofficially broke the world record with 1,647 tuggers, beating the previous record of 1,290, set by students in the Netherlands in 2010. RIT is awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records to verify the record has been broken. RIT’s Phi Kappa Psi and Zeta Tau Alpha Greek organizations host the annual tug-of-war event, one of the most popular events held on campus each year. While the tournament may be dirty, it’s for a good cause, with all proceeds going to Hillside Family of Agencies, an organization that provides support, counseling, education and housing services for children and families.
