Osher: an overview
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT is a membership-led organization that stimulates minds and forges friendships among people 50 and older who live in Greater Rochester.
Our days are filled with classes, discussions, talks, social events, and travel—but never exams. Offerings span a wide range of topics, including the arts, literature, sciences, history and government.
"I've been attending the Athenaeum for 14 or 15 years and have been extremely satisfied. It has broadened my knowledge, appreciation, self-worth and approach to the world. I have participated in the teaching process; given as able; enjoyed the ease of the brotherly warmth that allows free-flow of thought. For me it is a way to live."
Our partnership with RIT
Our affiliation with RIT is an important one. In addition to concrete financial, operating and technical assistance, RIT offers our members the assurance that our programs are on solid academic ground.
All of the perks, and none of the parking hassles
Membership at Osher includes significant RIT perks and benefits—from reduced rates at the fitness center to discounts at the Campus Bookstore. Our location near the RIT campus makes it easy for members to get to RIT venues when they want to, but also guarantees easy parking and accessible facilities for our core programs.
