Get Involved; It's time to live your life "out loud"

Osher runs on the creative energy of its members. You make us strong, and keep us interesting and engaging. Go beyond learning…to sharing.

Lead a course

What's the topic you're passionate about? Osher members invite you to teach it. Some people tell us that they had a subject in mind that wasn't on the curriculum, so they went out and learned about it, and then taught it themselves. For some people, leading a course is the very best part of Osher membership. Learn more about how you can do it.

"Many of the classes I have facilitated have been on subjects I was curious about, didn’t know a lot about and wanted to know more. So I did that by offering a class, and preparing for that class. Osher feels like a safe place where I can do that."

"Teaching at Osher? I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. When you're teaching here, you're teaching people who are really hungry to learn."

Volunteer your talents

There are plenty of opportunities to exercise your skills at Osher. We need people who want to sit on committees, help out with social events, staff the phones... and more. Read about our volunteer opportunities. Volunteers really do make all the difference at Osher.

Tell your friends about Osher

Most of our members were introduced to Osher by their friends and colleagues. Try us out and you will understand why!

"You know when you get to your 70s and 80s you can begin to think that you’re not going to make much difference any more, among the people. But here, people are teaching classes that they never taught before. And they’re planning these trips…and they get on these committees and they try out new things."

In 2006, we became an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, joining a growing national network of more than 120 university-based centers for older learners.
