A Member Run Organization

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is an organization of, by and for the members. As such, we depend on active member participation.

By volunteering, you become involved in a meaningful, satisfying way that goes beyond attending classes. It also provides you with a wonderful opportunity to meet other members and make new friends.

Member participation in the work of the organization also helps to keep membership costs at the lowest possible level.

Volunteer Opportunities

Serve on a committee, help plan a social event, answer the telephone, help with general office work…these are a few of the volunteer areas that can always use more support.

Read about our standing committees to see where your interests and skills best match up.

Read about other on-going volunteer opportunities noted on the Member Profile form.

Then, indicate how you might like to get involved. Just complete the appropriate sections of the Member Profile form on the back of the Membership Application Form.

"You know when you get to your 70s and 80s you can begin to think that you’re not going to make much difference any more, among the people. But here, people are teaching classes that they never taught before. And they’re planning these trips…and they get on these committees and they try out new things."

In 2006, we became an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, joining a growing national network of more than 100 university-based centers for older learners.
