Re: Appointment of the Chief Diversity Officer

I am pleased to announce that Kevin McDonald has accepted my invitation to join Rochester Institute of Technology as our Chief Diversity Officer beginning January 13, 2010. As you know, Kevin is currently serving as the vice president for equity and inclusion at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. I want to thank each of you for participating in this very important process. In addition, I would like to specifically thank the CDO Search Committee, chaired by Dr. Mary-Beth Cooper, for their work during most of this past year. I appreciate the commitment to RIT their participation signifies. And finally, thank you to Dr. Howard Ward for serving as our Interim Chief Diversity Officer for the last few months. Howard has agreed to continue to work in this capacity until Kevin joins us permanently.

I look forward to welcoming Kevin and his family to RIT and Rochester in the coming months.
