Bob Finnerty

Chief Communications Officer, University News

Bob Finnerty has served as Chief Communications Officer at RIT since 2002. He is responsible for enhancing the university’s internal and external communications, and oversees University News Services.

Prior to RIT, Finnerty worked at the Democrat and Chronicle for 12 years, serving as a reporter and an editor. While serving as metro editor, the Democrat and Chronicle won four consecutive ‘Best of Gannett’ awards and was named the Associated Press ‘Newspaper of Distinction’ for New York State.

Finnerty also served as an assignment editor for R News, Time Warner’s 24-hour local TV news channel. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Catholic Courier.

Finnerty is a graduate of Purdue University and also earned a master’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (Marketing/Communication and Media Technologies) at RIT.
