The inauguration of RIT’s ninth president, Dr. William W. Destler, was held on Nov. 9, 2007, in Gordon Field House and Activities Center.

Opening Address
President Destler has a vision for the university that he believes is a call to national service: Lead higher education in innovation and creativity. He outlined his vision to faculty, staff and students at his inaugural opening address to the campus on Aug. 30. “Imagine RIT, not just as a ‘teaching university’ or a ‘research university’, but as the first ‘innovation university’,” Destler said to an audience at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center.
