Academic Leadership Development

A Message from the Provost

The Department Head/Chair role is a challenging leadership position. Few come into the job with all of the necessary skills to fulfill the role. Our new Academic Leadership Development program is designed to support and help you succeed and grow in this important role. Read MoreRead Less

Unlike more traditional programs which rely on classroom training and events which may be interesting but disconnected to your needs, our program is grounded in research and best practice, multi-faceted, and designed to meet your needs.

The Academic Leadership Development website contains tools, resources and materials to provide just-in-time support when you need it most. Peer-mentoring groups have been created to provide community, problem solving, and best practices through informal discussion.

Throughout the year we’ll be checking in with you—to see how the program is working for you!

The tools and resources provided here are designed to support RIT’s Department Heads in fulfilling their vital role and in gaining additional capability.
