Search for the Future RIT Provost

Welcome to the RIT Provost Search Website!

After thirteen years of service as Provost of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Dr. Stanley McKenzie has announced his intent to retire. RIT is currently conducting a nation-wide search to identify and attract top candidates to the Provost position.

At the Rochester Institute of Technology, the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (SVPAA) serves to provide academic leadership to the University and oversees the operations of the individual colleges, research centers, and academic support centers. The Provost and SVPAA is the chief academic officer reporting to the President, and works collaboratively to maintain and improve the University’s high quality of education.

The Rochester Institute of Technology enrolls approximately sixteen thousand students, representative of all fifty states and nearly 100 foreign nations. The presence of 1,200 deaf and hard-of-hearing students enrolled in RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf adds a social and educational dynamic unique to the University.

Through eight different colleges, RIT offers a broad array of undergraduate and graduate programs, including four doctoral degrees. In the annual U.S. News & World Report: America’s Best Colleges, RIT ranked seventh overall in the “Best Universities—Master’s (North region)” category and scored second in peer assessment. RIT is also home to one of the largest cooperative-education programs in the world, annually placing 3,500 students in co-op positions with more than 1,900 employers. The Rochester Institute of Technology is nationally recognized as a career focused institution dedicated to technology based education and innovation.
