Over one billion people, or approximately 15% of the world’s population, live with some form of a disability. Experience has shown that when barriers to inclusion are removed and persons with disabilities are empowered to fully participate in societal life, their entire community benefits.
RIT has significant work underway in creating the effective access devices that help make this possible, with over 70 projects and a cumulative total of over $10M in sponsored research in this area. Building this portfolio of effective access technology has been accelerated in the past year with 16 seed projects funded by RIT. This summer, RIT is hosting a conference and exhibition to highlight the challenges and some of the solutions for Effective Access Technology.
