The American University in Kosovo Center for Energy and Natural Resources Master of Science in Professional Studies is a 48 credit hour Master of Science (M.S.) degree from Rochester Institute of Technology designed to foster the management and technical skills needed for success in the regional energy and natural resource sectors. The program emphasizes coursework in project management and the international development of natural resources & infrastructure.
The M.S. in Professional Studies degree fills an emerging need in the many businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations that require an interdisciplinary workforce with skills including from project management, problem solving, customer relations, asset management, human capital planning, project finance, supply and demand forecasting, and policy development and implementation. Both the private and public sectors will find this program in tune with their strategic plans and educational or training investments. This program gives individual students access to the expertise of RIT professors and the benefit of earning a U.S. accredited graduate degree.
This is an intensive program consisting of 11 courses conducted over a 17 month period and an independent applied or theoretical capstone project. The degree emphasizes the strategic dimensions of service quality, policy analysis and executive performance within the context of the infrastructure and service sectors. It is designed to enhance the continued lifelong learning and career development of executives and mid-level professionals without disruption of employment.
All courses are taught by expert faculty and senior-level industry experts with years of experience. Also, by collaborating with your colleagues in the classroom, you'll develop valuable friendships and establish a network of lifelong contacts. Even before you finish your degree, you'll be ready to expand your responsibilities in your organization and get to where you want to go professionally.
Courses are taught in a combination of (i) evening sessions taught by resident American University in Kosovo faculty, combined with online tools and assignments; and (ii) week-long executive format classes taught by visiting RIT professors. This flexible scheduling promotes maximum learning with minimum time spent away from work.
All students complete a set a core courses in project management, asset management, project finance, research and problem solving, and human capital development. These courses are foundational to all levels of management in the private and public infrastructure and service sectors. At the start of the degree program, students also work with RIT and the American University in Kosovo faculty and staff to review their career goals and choose a degree concentration. Currently, there are two concentrations to choose from: Service Management or Energy and Natural Resources Development and Policy.
The tuition costs of the RIT M.S. in Professional Studies at the American University in Kosovo is 15,000 euros. Compared to students earning the same degree in Rochester, New York, this is over a thirty percent savings. Tuition payments are made in three installments.
