William E. Bond (Bill) is Director of RIT's Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office. He provides the overall leadership, management and administration for matters related to intellectual property with an emphasis on patents and licensing.
Bill came to RIT with a wealth of experience in technology commercialization, licensing, and marketing. Previously he worked with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he was Director of Business Development and Licensing and then later Vice President of Technology Commercialization. Bill formed and ran his own company for 7.5 years where he provided technology commercialization, product development and market development consulting services to such companies as SAIC, Xerox, Telcordia (formerly Bellcore), and LunchByte Systems. Bill's career includes positions with Griffin Technology, Sybron/Taylor Instruments, Bausch & Lomb and Eastman Kodak.
Bill has an MBA in Marketing from the Simon School at the University of Rochester, a BS in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University, and has received executive education in “Marketing Innovative Technologies” from the Harvard Business School.
Bill is the holder of two patents, both assigned to Xerox Corporation.
Bill has received the Certified Licensing Professional, CLP™, designation from the Licensing Executive Society. It is the highest professional certification for intellectual property executives.
