Forms & Standard Agreements
Have a Patentable Idea?
If you believe you have invented something you need to disclose this using the RIT Invention Disclosure Form. It will be used to start the patenting decision process, and for required notifications of arising inventions to sponsors and funding agencies.
Part of the patenting process requires that the inventor(s) conduct a prior art search as cited in the Attachment C section of the RIT Invention Disclosure Form. For assistance, it is recommended that this video at the US Patent and Trademark Office be viewed, it is titled "How to Conduct a Preliminary U.S. Patent Search: A step by step strategy".
A signed hard copy of the Invention Disclosure is to be submitted to the Intellectual Property Management Office, (2469 University Services Center) for all inventions created at RIT. An electronic copy in MS Word Format should also be submitted to email@example.com.

A non-disclosure or confidentiality agreement is used whenever disclosing RIT proprietary information or receiving proprietary information from outside RIT. Contact the Intellectual Property Management Office for NDAs relating to intellectual property, technology transfer, and licensing.
