NSF I-Corps Node Upcoming Short Course

Apply now for the UNY NSF I-Corps Node Short Course at RIT in June. Please share this information with anyone who might be interested. We are particularly targeting graduate students and faculty who are working on deep STEM technologies.

NSF I-Corps Short Courses are for university researchers interested in exploring the market potential of their work and learning entrepreneurial skills.

Geared toward faculty members, doctoral candidates and post-docs, the Short Course is offered at no cost to participants and consists of both in-person and remote meetings over a two-week period. While exploring your current project, you’ll learn to apply the same process to other technologies – now and in your future career.

Short Course participation is a great way to get connected with the nationwide NSF I-Corps network of mentors, Sites, Nodes, and programming. If you work with a team, the whole team can participate in the Short Course. Teams already working with industry mentors stand to maximize their experience in the Short Course, but a mentor is not required.

RIT’s Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will host a Short Course on RIT's campus in June 2017, taught by Anthony Testa and Richard DeMartino.

In-person sessions will be held June 2, June 3 and June 16 and conference calls on June 7 and June 14. Visit NSF I-Corps Upstate New York (UNY) Node for more information.

Participants in this free course will learn how to:

  • Acquire and apply information from the marketplace
  • Conduct customer interviews
  • Identify industry partners

Upon successful completion of the Short Course, teams will have the opportunity to be recommended for the NSF I-Corps National Teams program, which offers grant awards of up to $50,000. Previous NSF funding is not required to apply.

Participation is limited! Apply online today!
