Saunders Summer Start-up Program

Drum Roll please!

The Saunders Summer Startup program is off to a great start.  We have accepted 6 student teams into the program and have reached capacity.

Details on the prorgam are below:

Do you have an intriguing business concept with an early stage business plan?  Are you looking to work on this effort over the summer and get paid to do so?

The Saunders College of Business and the Simone Center for Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship are pleased to host RIT’s Saunders Summer Start-Up program.  This initiative is an intense summer program aimed at assisting entrepreneurs and innovators in developing their business concepts to a point where they are ready to begin to seek angel investment.

The program elements include instruction across a range of subjects relevant to startups, including:

  • The business concept
  • Forming the business
  • Intellectual property
  • Seeking investment capital

In addition, each team will receive mentoring/coaching and access to funding to assist with expenses.

The program will culminate in an “Investor Day” where each student team will have an opportunity to pitch their business to a group of “real investors”.

Stipend and Expense Fund

Each person successfully participating will receive a $3,000 stipend for the summer with a $9,000 maximum per team of 3.  For example:

2 person teams = $3,000 each for a total of $6,000

3 person teams = $3,000 each for a total of $9,000

4 person teams = $3,000 for 3 people = $9,000 / 4 people = $2,250 per person

5 person teams = $3,000 for 3 people = $9,000 / 5 people = $1,800 per person

In addition to the stipend, teams also have access to a limited expense fund for pre-approved expenses.
