David Bond is the Director of the Sponsored Research Services office.  The office supports the efforts of RIT faculty and staff at all phases of proposal development and award management.  David leads efforts in the development of grant proposals and works with our Senior Research Administrators to support principal investigators at RIT.  David joined RIT in 2000, and has worked with faculty in each college on proposal development. 

David has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Master's degree in Public Policy Analysis, both from the University of Rochester. David's previous employers include the Center for Governmental Research in Rochester, New York, DRI/McGraw Hill, and the United States Navy.

Katherine Clark, associate director for grants and contracts management, is responsible for supporting principal investigators in the administration of their sponsored projects. She negotiates grants and contracts on behalf of RIT. Kate is also responsible for keeping abreast of any new or proposed changes in sponsor regulations. She maintains an electronic database of funded projects. Kate provides support to all units of RIT that have sponsored projects.

Kate also acts as a liaison between sponsors and principal investigators. She provides assistance in interpreting agreement terms and conditions, meeting report deadlines, and negotiating agreements. She also assists principal investigators with compliance with the RIT Research Oversight Policy. Kate's office is in room 2013 of the Louise Slaughter Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies.

Anthony Capobianco joined the Sponsored Research Services team in 2003. He supports internal and external electronic research administration at RIT. Anthony is the site administrator for InfoEd, NSF FastLane, NIH Commons, Grants.gov, NASA NSPIRES, and other agency-specific systems. He maintains SRS's database of sponsored projecs and is the developer and maintainer of RIT's RAPID system, used for reporting on sponsored activity and completing the Notice of Award process. Anthony also manages data analysis and report production for SRS.

Anthony is currently working to implement the Coeus grants management system at RIT, which will bring a new level of organization and efficiency to the Pre- and Post-Award processes.

Anthony received his Bachelor of Science in psychology from Geneva College (PA), and his Master of Arts in psychology from the University of Rochester.

María C. Cortés has been a Senior Research Administrator for Sponsored Research Services since March of 2006.  She provides grant support to the Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Finance & Administration Divisions, as well as to the School of Mathematical Sciences and Department of Chemistry in the College of Science. 

Before joining SRS, María was the Grants Coordinator at Nazareth College.  Previous to that experience, Maria was Director of Programs for the Puerto Rican Youth Development and Resource Center, a local community based organization focused on providing services to Latino youth.

Maria has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from SUNY Brockport and is currently working on her Master’s in Business Administration at the RIT Saunders College of Business.

Shane joined SRS full time in January 2004 as a contract specialist. Shane works closely with Kate Clark to provide support to principal investigators in the administration of their sponsored projects. His job includes requesting new accounts, responding to inquiries from principal investigators and sponsors, coordinating Project Initiation Meetings, preparing Terms and Conditions Summary documents, updating our award information database, and monitoring Notices of Awards as required by the Research Oversight Policy – and these are just a few of his responsibilities.

Prior to joining SRS full time, Shane was a student employee and co-op student for SRS (formerly GCIP) starting with his freshman year in 1999. As a co-op, Shane took a lead role in testing and implementing the Knowledge Sharing Systems database that SRS currently uses to manage sponsored projects. Shane graduated in 2004 from the new Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences with a BS in Information Technology.

Kelly Evinsky joined SRS in April 2007. Kelly supports and assists the Sponsored Research Services staff in all aspects. Her responsiblities include coordinating Project Initiation Meetings, entering and updating proposal, award, and agreement information in the SRS database, and planning and and coordinating SRS events including the PI Boot Camp, PI Institutes and annual PI Reception. Kelly manages department resources and scheduling and provides general support to SRS. She brings 15 years of administrative experience to RIT.

Nancy Forand joined Sponsored Research Services in July, 2005. She assists faculty members in locating opportunities and securing funding for research and innovative educational programs in the College of Applied Science and Technology, College of Liberal Arts, and College of Imaging Arts and Sciences.

Nancy brings a varied set of experiences to her work. Most recently, she worked at the University of Rochester on educational research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. She also taught in the Department of Anthropology. She earned a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a PhD from the University at Albany, SUNY. She spent two years in a Mexican agricultural village investigating the transformation and social reorganization of a Mayan community that had become a hotbed of evangelical activity. Prior to her career in social science, Nancy was a project manager for Applications Development in the Office of Information Technology at Harvard University.

Nancy thrives on diversity. “The best part of working in Sponsored Research Services,” she says, “is the chance to work with teachers and scholars from different intellectual traditions who are engaged in wide-ranging activities.”

David Harrison joined Sponsored Research Services (SRS) as a Research Administrator in June 2009. He works with faculty and staff in the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computer and Information Sciences (GCCIS), the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies (CIMS), and the Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS) to identify grant opportunities and develop proposals. David has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film & Media Studies and Certificate in Management Studies from the University of Rochester, and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science degree from Syracuse University’s iSchool, where he specialized in Digital Libraries. He has extensive experience assisting companies with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards. Before joining SRS, David worked as a Research Analyst for a small professional services firm that specialized in helping these advanced technology companies to commercialize their innovations.

Scott Miller joined Sponsored Research Services in February 2008. He works with faculty and staff in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering and the E. Philip Saunders College of Business.

Scott has a Bachelor’s degree in Professional and Technical Communication from RIT and a Master’s degree in Management from Roberts Wesleyan College.

Jason Polito has been a Senior Research Administrator for Sponsored Research Services since January 2005. He works with researchers to administer the negotiation and execution of contracts with corporate entities.

Jason has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education. Before joining SRS, he spent five years working in RIT’s ITS department as the Executive Support Administrator. Prior to joining RIT, Jason worked for the Gates-Chili School District and with the local company Xerographic Solutions, Inc.

Nicholas Rogers joined SRS as a Senior Research Administrator in October 2006. Nick is a recent graduate of the RIT Saunders College of Business MBA program where he served as President of the Graduate Management Association, a Graduate Assistant, an MBA Ambassador, and on the Saunders College Executive Board. Nick also holds a BA in Communication from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI.

Nick currently assists faculty in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, the Department of Physics, and the Astrophysics Program in the College of Science.

In the College of Science, Nick has worked with Ryne Raffaelle in the NanoPower Research Lab as an Operations Assistant and Independent Design Consultant and with Rich Hailstone in the NanoImaging Lab as an Independent Design Consultant. Additionally, Nick has worked with several COS and GCCIS faculty teams on new venture creation and business plan development as part of RIT's Venture Creations/High Technology Incubator.

Nick's previous employers include YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County, Geva Theatre Center, and ChoiceOne Communications.

Andrea Gebhart Rommel joined Sponsored Research Services as a Senior Research Administrator in July of 2009. She supports faculty and staff at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), the School of Life Sciences, and the Wallace Memorial Library during all stages of the grants development process.

Andrea earned a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis. For her Ph.D. research, she investigated the specific contributions of the posterolateral cerebellum of the brain to verbal and spatial learning, by conducting clinical research with individuals who had experienced a stroke localized to that brain region. Prior to joining SRS, Andrea worked as a postdoctoral research fellow and as a research associate in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester. For her postdoctoral research, she utilized behavioral and brain imaging methods to investigate the mechanisms underlying the basis of learning in adults, and the basis of language, visual, and perceptual development in infants.
