Capabilities
The laboratory contains various workstations that allow for for soldering, metrology of mechanical parts, prototype assembly, and testing. Additionally, the room is equipped with storage areas, bench tops, electricity, several personal computers, and multiple network ports.
Because of involvement with design and testing of magnetic bearings, the lab possesses unique equipment. Some of the equipment in the lab includes:
• Dynamometer test stand
• Custom apparatus used to measure the distribution of magnetic field strength of a permanent magnet
• Load cells
• Magnetic bearing test rig
• Magnet centering rig
Tabletop equipment:
• Power supplies
• Oscilloscopes
• Multimeters
• Strobe lights
• Spectrum analyzer
Software:
• MATLAB
• Microsoft Office
• Canvas
• Corel Draw
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Acrobat
• Minitab
• LabVIEW
