The NanoPower Research Laboratory (NPRL) is a center for research into the development of nanomaterials and their characterization, and their subsequent use in improving energy conversion and storage devices. Founded in 2001, the NPRL consists of 6 separate laboratories with a combined research space of over 6000 sq. ft. The laboratory space, located in the Golisano Institute for Sustainability, is dedicated to basic and applied nanotechnology research associated with the development of materials and devices for energy conversion.
CapabilitiesThe NPRL has facilities that allow for research in a variety of sustainable power techniques, including: • Carbon nanotubes for high-density storage in lithium ion batteries • Semiconductor quantum dots for high-efficiency solar cells • Organic/polymer photovoltaics
