Samsung Global Research Outreach Program

The SAMSUNG Global Research Outreach (GRO) Program is SAMSUNG's (Samsung Electronics & affiliated Samsung companies) academic research collaboration platform.

Selected proposals will receive financial support for one year ranging from USD $70,000 to $100,000, including indirect costs.  Awards may be renewed up to three years, based on research outcomes and necessity for further research partnership driven by SAMSUNG. Joint research proposals from multiple universities may also be accepted.

The 2014 GRO Program is seeking proposals in twelve (12) Research Themes:

Sensor Technology, New Display, Machine Learning & Recognition, Next Generation Computing, Next Generation Web, Big Data & Network, Security, Functional Material, OLED Material, Next Generation Battery, Energy Harvesting, Design & Service

Under the research themes, there are forty (40) special subjects for this year.  Descriptions of each research theme are available.  Samsung also welcomes proposals on other topics.    

The submission portal is open and proposals are due by June 12 at 5:00 pm EST.  Award notification will begin in August.

Information Session - UPDATE 4/30/14

Samsung has scheduled a webinar for May 6 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.  The webinar will be hosted in 78-2220.  This will replace the session previously scheduled for May 5.
