About the Office of the Vice President for Research

The Office of the Vice President for Research is responsible for university-wide research and research support services, as well as industry and government research relationships. The OVPR collaborates with all deans and center directors and works closely with other university administrators to develop and carry out RIT's strategic research agenda. The OVPR consists of:

Sponsored Research Services: Supports faculty in facilitating all aspects of externally gunded grants and contracts.

Research Relations: Assists with connecting researchers to external collaborators, including companies and agencies.

Intellectual Property Management: Assists with the identification, capture, and commercialization of intellectual property developed at RIT.

Human Subjects Research: Reviews all activities that involved human subjects, from survey research to biological specimens, and human factor evaluations.

Research Computing: Provides researchers with access and support to high performance computing resources.

Simone Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Promotes and fosters innovation and entrepreneurship through academic programs, a student business development lab, and business development activities.

Venture Creations: RIT incubator that provides the RIT community with resources for start-up businesses.

IT Collaboratory: A NYSTAR designated strategically Targeted Academic Research (STAR) Center with partners at the University at Buffalo and Alfred University.
