Vice President for Research Building Research Capabilities at RIT
The Vice President for Research (VPR) reports to the Provost and is responsible for university-wide research and research support services as well as industry and government research relationships. The VPR collaborates with all deans and center directors and works closely with other University administrators to develop and carry out RIT's strategic research agenda. Reporting to VPR are Sponsored Research Services, Research Relations Office, First in Class Initiative, Human Subjects Research Office, Research Computing and the IT Collaboratory.
VPR also works cooperatively with RIT's offices of Finance & Administration to support technology transfer through the Technology Licensing Office and Venture Creations, the RIT High Technology Incubator. The First in Class initiative provides seed investments in selected academic and research programs that further RIT's research capabilities and forms partnerships with industry, government agencies, non-profit research centers and other universities. The IT Collaboratory is a NYSTAR designated strategically Targeted Academic Research (STAR) Center with partners at the University at Buffalo and Alfred University.
