RIT INFORMATION SECURITY ALERT -- Fake Amazon.com Phishing Email
A recent email was reported that appears to come from Amazon.com.
It has a similar look to legitimate Amazon.com emails, however has a few red flags that tell us this is a phishing attempt.
- First, the from and reply to areas are not from an Amazon.com email:
- Second, when any of the links are hovered over (not clicked), the address it points to is not the real Amazon.com website:
If you receive any emails like the above, regardless if you have recently placed or sent orders on Amazon.com, do not visit any of the links in the email and delete it. Instead visit Amazon.com by typing the URL in your browser window to log into their site to review any orders.
