Paul Darragh President
Hey Everyone, my name is Paul Darragh and I will be this year's Student Government President! This will be my second year in Student Government after my term as the Freshman Senator two years ago. I am looking to give Student Government a new spin from the last few years. In the past it was us asking you to come to us with ideas, my goal this year is for all of us to come to ask you for how you want to see your tuition dollars spent.I have two main goals that I would like to accomplish this year. First and foremost is bringing a rental bike to campus. We have a very bike friendly campus compared to a lot of other Universities and I want to take advantage of this and help promote us becoming a greener school. These bikes would not only cut down on bike theft at RIT, but as well as promote a healthier option than driving around campus to classes, as well as a faster one when you roll out of bed at 7:55. The next big goal that I have my eyes set on is starting to record classes. These videos would benefit students because it provides them with the option to catch up on classes they have missed, provide an excellent opportunity to re-watch parts of a lecture when they are studying for a big test. Last and certainly not least is a majority of students will switch majors at least once in college, wouldn't it be nice to be able to preview that new major before you make that switch that could cost you fifteen thousand dollars if you do not like it. A little more information about myself is that I will be third year Software Engineer with a liberal arts concentration in American Sign Language. In my free time I enjoy to play sports (Hockey and Lacrosse), I am a season ticket holder for our RIT Men's Hockey team, and love finding new music on SoundCloud. If I had to give you one fun and fact about myself I would probably talk about how I use to flip coffees behind my back when I worked at Dunkin' Donuts during high school. Speaking of high school I am from MA and have only one thing to say, GO BOSTON! If you want to get in touch with me about an idea you have to better our campus or just want to say hello you can find me usually in either the Student Government Office or the Society of Software Engineers. Though once a week Nick and I will be grabbing food at a random food location trying to get students opinions on issues and ideas to work on! If you don't feel like playing find Waldo, I mean Paul, you can contact me by either sending me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or sending me a message on Facebook, if you not friends with me then look me up at facebook.com/TallPaulDarragh.
