Alexander Van Hook COLA Senator
My name is Alexander Van Hook and my family and friends know me as "Alex." I am 19 years old (will be 20 on Jan. 6). I was born in Orange County, California, and raised in a rural part of Pennsylvania. My current permanent home is in northern Bucks County in PA. I am Deaf and use sign language as my primary point of communication. I also have congenital muscular dystrophy.
I am a second-year student in the COLA Exploration program with a primary interest in politics and history, as well as technology.
I am serving as the Student Government senator representing COLA for this academic year of 2012-2013. Some of my primary goals are:
Continue the goal of past COLA senators to establish a permanent and stable Student Advisory Board (SAB) for COLA
Increase awareness in COLA's co-op program
Work with the dean, his team, the developing SAB,
and SG, to support the education, recreation and accessibility at COLA and its relationship with the rest of the RIT community
Work on the relationship of the Deaf and hearing communities within the COLA community
You can contact me at sgcola@rit.edu anytime if you have any questions, concerns, feedback, and/or suggestions. I am looking forward to working with you and the COLA community. Here's to a great year!
LET'S GO RIT TIGERS!
