Bakar Ali COLA Senator
Hello! My name is Bakar Ali. I am a 3rd year student pursuing a double major in international studies and urban and community studies, with a minor in political science.
Last year, I served as peer mentor for Sociology/Anthropology to be a liaison between my department, students and the college. During my tenure as a peer mentor, I became involved with many events and activities for the College of Liberal Arts including volunteering and social events.
As COLA senator with Student Government, it is my my job to advocate the interest of COLA community and represent them in Student Government's decisions.
My vision this year is to ensure that our future thinkers and philosophers, get the best possible education, training and resources they need at RIT.
I will work with the Dean, the departments, and all clubs and organizations at COLA to make our college one of the best and most diverse colleges at RIT. Liberal arts students are the ones that are often credited with improving our society and leading the world.
As senator for the College of Liberal Arts, I will make sure that our voices are heard by Student Government, the RIT administration, and the campus at large. I will be working in collaboration with the the peer mentors and networking with students to host more events in partnership with them. I can always be found either at Wallace Library (which is my second home) or in the College of Liberal Arts where most of my classes are. If you would like to know more about my work, have concerns that you want addressed, or just want to talk about anything relating to my constituency, please don't hesitate to contact me.
If you like drinking coffee, I could be one of your great friends; I am a big fan of coffee. Come and see me; you will get a free cup of coffee:)
