Ian Young Director of Finance
My name is Ian Young, and I am a 4th year Finance & Economics double major with a Mandarin Chinese Language minor. After serving on various executive committees, founding an organization, and studying abroad, I knew it was time to give something back to the community that has offered me so much. I believe Student Government is the best medium to simultaneously exercise my skill set and contribute to RIT.
My primary objectives as Director of Finance are fund allocation to organizations and individuals, budget maintenance, and finance committee management. In addition to these core tasks, I intend to install periodic forums for better person-to-person interaction, improve our online financial infrastructure (for requests and communication), and ameliorate our spending efficiency across the board.
One of the greatest characteristics of RIT is the students' capacity to inspire change and make a difference. If you have an idea or concept that you think could better the community, tell me! I love new projects, and no venture is too ambitious or modest.
Anyone in finance will tell you that our foremost responsibility is to those who support us (a.k.a. you guys!). This year will be filled with innovation, transparency, and nonstop advancement of everything that makes RIT great. I'm very excited to share it with SG and the community.
