Founded in 1829 upon the merging of the Rochester Athaneum and the Mechanics Institute, RIT is a university located in Henrietta, New York. With nine colleges, RIT offers degrees in engineering, engineering technology, the computing sciences, liberal arts, fine arts, and imaging sciences. The more than 20,000 students at RIT are offered a wide selection of extracurricular activities, including 24 sports teams, and over 150 student clubs, one of which is K2GXT.
RIT's Student Government is responsible for voicing the concerns of the Institute's students. Acting as a liasion for all student clubs, major student organizations, and Student Senators, Student Government interacts directly with both students and administrators. K2GXT is the oldest Student-Government recognized club on the Henrietta campus; in fact our club predates RIT's Henrietta campus!
Incorporated since 1960, the Rochester Amateur Radio Association has over 700 members, and is one of the largest Amateur Radio clubs in North America. Unifying amateur radio activity in Rochester and Western New York, RARA provides much to its members, including monthly meetings, an annual banquet, the Rochester Hamfest, and more! RARA supports many other amateur radio clubs and endeavors in Rochester area, including college clubs such as K2GXT.
