Spring Quarter: Week 3 Update

I hope everyone is ready for Toronto! Tomorrow is the big day. Before we leave please consider the following:

Toronto is probably going to be a bit cold and rainy this weekend. PLEASE pack accordingly. Umbrellas, jackets and pants (That goes for you Alex) should be in your baggies. Also, make sure your passport and wallet are on you before you leave. Tomorrow is also Open House for accepted students, if you're not leaving in the morning please clean your rooms, leave your doors open and stay around for tours.

Tonight we're having a Studio Cleanup 9:30PM so be there for your hours! Right after that we have Ninja-Chalking! So in conclusion, pack smart, clean up and ninja chalk.

Spring Quarter: Week 1 Update

Welcome back! This week was an exciting one, wasn't it? Thanks to everyone who helped assemble the new desks and chairs for the studio. And good job to everyone who went outside to play frisbee and soccer!

This quarter has a lot going on, so be ready to stay active! Toronto is getting closer and closer. Make sure you have your passports and licenses ready. Toronto will be March 30th through April 1st! That'll be the weekend of Week 3! NOAC will be next week on Saturday (Week 2's weekend), don't miss out on Acapella groups singing "sexily." We'll also be having a Segway activity next Friday at 8AM for fun. The Gracies Formal will be Friday of Week 4. That'll be a fancy day to remember, so dress up in your finest clothing and come eat with us! Also, don't forget about Art Tech if you signed up for something! Mural painting in the tunnels is going to start happening very soon, so get ready for some community service there too! If you're confused about dates, click on the Events button to view the calendar dates.

We also have a huge open house on March 30th, Week 3. That'll be the morning of Toronto, so wake up early! Then we have the community service Easter Hunt event on Saturday, Week 2 (March 24th.) Lastly, if you have art that you want to share, be sure to email me some awesome art/designs for the site! The BCG 90 Art Gallery needs submissions for their event, so please, if you have something to submit, please don't forget!

Winter Quarter: Week 9 Update

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 9!

Our next break is right around the corner, but there are a few things that need to get done in the meantime. If you are a registered NY driver please go to Grace Watson to get van certification. If you need help go find Timmy, Dillon or Kurt for guidance. We'll be booking rooms for Toronto soon, so be prepared to find a rooming partner of the same sex to room with you. If you are off-floor or an alumni, please come on-floor to sign up on the hotal rooming sheet! We need this list filled out so that we can pay for your rooms. Our trip to Toronto will most likely be around April 7th, so please plan accordingly.

In other news, The bake sale went very well and we sold plenty of sweet! Congratulations everyone! Marissa's having another epic Movie Night on Friday! Don't miss out on Feb 17, 8:00PM!

Winter Quarter: Week 6 Update

Happy New Years, Happy Chinese New Years and welcome back!

I hope everyone had a nice week 5 because week 6 is now upon us! This week we have the Murder Game. If you have a spoon, you're playing the game. The rules are pretty straight forward. Your spoon has someone's name on it and you have to tag them. When you tag them you get to take their spoons and kill the next spoon target. This game is only being played on the Art House floor. You cannot kill someone in the bathroom or in their room. However, you can kill someone in their room if they invite you in! ALSO...You can't kill someone if there are witnesses around. Either trick the target into being alone or get the witnesses to clear out discretely. I hope everyone has a nice paranoid week! Tee hee.

Other than that, this Tuesday night there will be a knitting and crocheting activity. Yule ball is this Saturday, Jan 28th Fireside Lounge 8PM-12AM. Singles cost $10 but Couples cost 16...so BRING A DATE! Lastly, I'd like to update the site a bit more with a new gallery. If you have work that you want to share with this world, please send me your work via Facebook!

Winter Quarter: Week 1 Update

Hey everybody! I hope everyone had a great break and a fun trip to Corning/The Christmas Workshop.

The studio is all ready for members to work in it again. This week we have two big events going on. We have the photo-shoot next weekend in the Xmen-Conference Room. Dress up, dress down or whatever you want for your special Art House photo! I expect some fun get-ups this year!

Other than that, have fun with the big secret Santa event. Oh, and don't try to spoil anyone's secret santa...that's no fun. Also, members should think about doing mural designs for Margaret's House and being a teacher's assistant for Art Tech! Also, if you want to help with T-Shirt designs and the Art House mural, please don't be shy! Get that stuff done and hand it into Bryan! You guys are artists, get 'er done!

Fall Quarter: Week 9 Update

Hey everyone, I hope this week is treating you well

It seems as though almost everyone is done with there hours, if you need help keeping track of your hours talk to an E-Board member. Also, make sure to tell the RA when you're leaving for the quarter. In other news, I'd like to show everyone a pretty cool site. It's called the Student Showcase. This is a great site that shows all sorts of student work, if you're not apart of it yet, please join! Put your work up there so that the world can see.

Other than that, look forward to Art House getting some new shiny things! We're currently working on getting the 2 Macs fully functional and getting the studio renovated. We now have a printer/fax machine/scanner for the floor as well! It's gonna be cool. Oh, and have a great vacation!

Fall Quarter: Week 6 Update

Hello everyone! We did a great job dressing up for the group shot today. Have a look:

In other news, The Haunted Hayride is coming up week 8. Be sure to sign up before October 14th if you want to participate. Next weekend is Brick City Homecoming which is loads of fun. The weekend after that is another Open House, so be prepared. Look forward to Hillside, Laser Quest and the SIH Olympics in the near future.

Other than that...make sure you keep up on our facebook group and on our activity wall onfloor!

Fall Quarter: Week 3 Update

Hello all, and welcome to Week 3! I hope classes are treating everyone well so far. This coming week we have a corn maze to look forward to. For off-floor community service there is a Breast Cancer Walk by the blue cross on October 2nd. Also incoming, our first open house is coming this Saturday! Be sure to make some WTF posters for Bryan.

Keep your door open and your room clean for the incoming freshmen, if you can. If you haven't finished your door painting...finish it soon so that everyone can marvel at your work. We will also be doing tours, if you want on-floor service come hang out at the NRH SIH tour room.

Lastly...The Facebook group has a poll up for the Art House Photo shoot. Go vote! And while you're at it, vote for who you think will last the longest in HvZ.

Fall Quarter: Week Move-in Update

WELCOME to all the new freshmen. We've had a great week so far and we haven't even seen all the new members yet. Hope everyone has a smooth ride to RIT and an easy move-in. There will be volunteers to help you move in and make your big transition just a tad less painful.

If you have any questions about the floor, you can likely find the answer by clicking on the About tab or Become a Member.

Spring Quarter: Week 7 Update

Hey guys! As your new Tech developer person I'd like to say "HAIII!" on behalf of all the new e-board members! From now on, talk to "new-board" if you have questions that need some answering.

Don't forget Application Reviews on Saturday at 11:00AM. The SIH Olympics is also this Saturday at the field-house from 12:00PM till 4:00PM. They'll have a bunch of different games to play. Right now, I'm trying to change the site up a little bit. Hopefully everything will end up nice and dandy.

Also make sure to get your hours and activities done if you want to be an onfloor/alumni member next year.

Winter Quarter: Week 10 Update

Hey everyone. Hope everyone who went to laser tag had a great time, despite not being victorious.

This week we want to make sure that you all register for housing. We will be holding a presentation today after the meeting where Jon Brennan will do his housing form as an example in case you need help!

Also make sure to get your hours and activities done to avoid probation there's only two weeks left!

Winter Quarter: Week 6 Update

Hello everyone! Great job representing us at the SIH talent show this week.

This week we have some important news. First off, we are currently working on a lazer tag trip in conjunction with International House, we can only send 26 Arthousers to the event so if you are interested look out for the signoff sheet. It will be 15 dollars for any one who wants to go and 5 dollars for first few willing to drive to the location. Secondly, Brett needs to know if you are going to Toronto with the floor by the end of this week. So if you want to go, make sure to let Brett know or it'll be too late! And no one wants to miss out on all the fun in Toronto.

Last but not least Tom is going to reschedule the play in snow event due to lack of packable snow. So keep a look out for a sign up sheet!

Winter Quarter: Week 1 Update

Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Break. Today is the Gingerbread House contest in the SAU from 12 to 4! Lets make sure to defend our title!

In other news Adrian would like to ask for all our help to raise money for our Adopt-a-Family, an underprivileged family that we will be purchasing present for. There will be a Soul Caliber DDR fundraiser. 5 dollars per team, see Adrian or Facebook for more details!

Finally just a warning for everyone on probation to get their hours done so you can attend the Toronto trip in the spring!

Week 8 Update

Happy Halloween everyone! For those of you who missed the meeting tonight you'll be glad to know Art House took first place in the SIH Halloween Lounge Decorating Contest. We are very proud of everyone who put in a ton of effort into transforming the studio into a spooky and exciting experience.

On a more serious note we would just like to remind everyone to get all of their on-floor, off-floor, and activities done. While many of you have already completed this task, we'd like to remind those who have not that the consequences of not doing so will result in probation for winter quarter. Probation can result in loss of privileges to the spray booth and the studio. If you have any more questions about probation please speak to a member of the E-Board.

Michelle also has asked that if you going to be late to a floor meeting, or if you are going to miss a meeting completely to come speak to her before the meeting to see if the absence can be considered as excusable.

One more quick reminder, the Seneca Park Zoo trip is next week. So everyone get in touch with your spirit animal, because you may need their guidance to an awesome time!

Week 5 Update

Hey everyone, sorry about the late update, but luckily all is well on Art House! Our second trip to Hillside was a big success and we want to thank Alex for driving multiple trips to get everyone there. We will be continuing work on Hillside on the 23rd of October so we hope to see you all there!

Just as a quick reminder that it's uncool to tamper with the art on other peoples doors. Those caught doing so will face consequences.

Week 3 Update

Hey everyone! Hope you've all had a good week. The E-Board would like to thank everyone who helped making last weekends open house very sucessful.

Also remember this weekend is the first trip to Hillside, so if you've signed up to go this week make sure to sign up for a car on the activities board. If you don't have time to register for a car Ashley will assign you to one.

Franco also would like to thank everyone who took part in this weeks clean up of the spray booth and would like to let everyone know that he'll be organizing a studio clean up some time next week.

I hope everyone has a good week and we'll see you all at the meeting on Sunday!

Week 2 Update

Remember that there's an open house this weekend. You can earn On Floor community service by either sitting at the Art House table in Nathaniel Rochester Hall or by leaving your doors open for prospective students to get a better glimpse of what life on Art House is like! Also, your publicity representative, Tom Kemper, will be leading a Ninja Chalking activity the night before to help get out the word about Art House, so make sure to attend, it's sure to be a lot of fun.

Your activities coordinator, Maggie Nielson, would like to ask that New York state residents with a drivers license see her about becoming van certified to help with the transportation to and from activities off campus.

Make sure to sign up for the Hillside community service project as it will be the only form of off floor community service available this quarter. It will take place over at least 2 weekends, giving all of you ample time to get your hours in. See the activities board on floor for more info!
