Upcoming Activities:
- Bring your own pumpkin and make a jack-o-lanturn activity to be announced. Be sure to save the pumpkin seeds so Max can bake them
- Freshmen registration extravaganza on floor Wednesday October 28th at 6AM: FREE DONUTS from Adrian!
- Shawn of the Dead is being screened at the SAU Café on Thursday October 29th at 10PM.
- Go Trick or Treating in the hallway! Date is Friday October 30th at 8/9PM; conditions are to buy candy, wear a costume, one roommate out and about at a time. See Devin and Vicki for details.
- Fright Night is on Sunday November 1st from 2-6PM.
- The gallery in the Studio has been cleaned out. If a work of yours was removed but not yet returned check the spray booth for it.
Off-floor service opportunities:
- Design the mural for CIAS Building 7A on the first floor (left of Webb Auditorium stretching to the vending machines by the Infinity Quad). Collaborations are allowed and encouraged. Ideas are due the Thursday of December 3rd.
- Imagine RIT is in the spring quarter, but we'd like to brainstorm for ideas early on in the game. Develop ideas for the basis of Art House's Imagine RIT project/event. It will count as off-floor hours.
- Design a First Friday poster for 20 minutes of service. Turn in a PDF to Ashley asap. Be sure to include the following:
-visit galleries in downtown Rochester for free
-meet the bust at the SAU circle at 6PM
-more info @ firstfridayrochester.org
-open to the entire RIT student body
-first friday of every month!
- As always, keep working on the following:
T-shirt designs: digital and/or hardcopy designs can be submitted to Jeremy until the lounge computer returns. Entries are due on the midnight of Sunday November 1st. - Artwork/artistic projects for the Habitat for Humanity art auction in December at the Lovin' Cup. Donated pieces can be of any medium. See Ashley for details.
- Art House mural in the tunnels by Sol's is in need of a new design, and WITR has also asked for our help. If you have mural ideas, tell Alyssa.
- We need more WTF posters! WTF Posters can be handed in to Sean for 10 minutes of community service apiece. Be sure to include mentioning Art House, Colby D or Building 33, http://arthouse.rit.edu, and it's on a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. A good WTF poster will give you have a braingasm.

Upcoming
- Learn to knit and get community service! -A knitting community service lesson be hosted on Wednesday (21st) in the Studio. Each square made will be counted as 15 minutes. Yarn, needles, and lessons will be provided. If you want to make a square but cannot come, see Alyssa; there will be choice of either red, white, or blue squares.
- Wetlands Cleanup this Saturday (24th) at 8:30AM. Bring gloves and extra layers, and tell Ashley if you don't have boots. If you signed up for it but can't do it, just cross your name off the list. Hours spent will count as off-floor.
- Dethklok and Mastodon concert this Saturday the 24th at the Agri-Center of Fairgrounds, Hamburg, NY. Price is $39.50 from website, $27.50 at venue. We plan to leave at 3PM.
- Need help with the ridiculous registration process? There'll be a registration extravaganza at 6AM on floor on Monday the 26th (sophomores) and Wednesday the 28th (freshmen). Wake up early and get an activity!
Don't forget...
- We're considering repainting the Art House mural in the tunnels, and WITR has likewise asked for our help. If you have mural design ideas, tell Alyssa.
- T-shirt designs! Digital designs can be submitted in a folder in the lounge computer. Unfortunately the lounge computer is broken now, so give your files to Jeremy (300DPI and .PDF is preferred) Paper versions can be also be given to Jeremy or myself, (Adam). Entries are due on the midnight of November 1st.

The Zoo and Zombieland were great!
We also painted clouds in RHA and all was good.
The Habitat for Humanity art auction is TBA, but talk to Ashley if you're interested in selling your work.
-Don't forget, the official wetlands clean up is next week(Saturday the 17th).
Also, if you want to use a lamp in the studio don't forget to sign it out for the day.
Lastly, T-SHIRT DESIGNS...MAKE THEM!

Reminders - Just kidding, have a great summer!
- Anyway, I will probably be changing the menu bar at the top of the site because it's boring and outdated.
- I'm also going to change this years members pictures to the ones we took in the studio, if you weren't there and care about your picture, send me one over Facebook or something.
- I may change some other stuff also, but if you have ideas stick them in the idea message board. See you all in a few months!

• The Children's Home Mural: please come to one of the next two sessions to help paint. Until further notice, the rides will still be hosted Saturday mornings at 9AM by the lounge and fully return to Art House around 2PM.

Things to do, and things to, um, know.
Firstly, though this is pretty late, it's nice to be back at Arthouse after the great flood.
As the rest of the e-board has said, thanks to everyone for behaving in a relatively controlled, not-freaking-out manner during that episide.
Now, for business. Everyone try to get some sketches in for the paint job that we'll be doing at the home for mentally handicapped kids. We're dedicated and pretty much locked into doing this, so backing out at this point would be a real bad look for all of us.
Xerxes, the color printer, can no longer function off of the RIT network for some reason. This happened without much warning, and apparently nobody knows why. The only way to print now is to make sure you have the printer's drivers installed (get them at xerox.com if you haven't already) and to hook up right into the printer with a USB cable.
Make sure you guys have your passports and documentation for the Toronto trip! It's good fun.
Do your community service and activities! It's already the middle of the quarter so get caught up if you aren't.

Hokaye, so stuff to do for this week! Just in case anybody actually reads this site.
Wed: Apple Cider selling from 9-12 (maybe it was 8-12...). Dress warmly and bring some buddies. Sit outside in the cold while you all sip hot apple cider.
Thursday: "fRITe" Niiiight. o0o0o, spooky. Go dance with people you've never met before.
Friday (I think...): Something about erotic stuff at Tilt. Consult Brandon for more information.
Sunday: Apple Pickin's! Let's hope the weather permits.

Yoyoyo homebrews. This is Arty Wang, your friendly neighborhood tech guy.
From here on out, this section where you're reading will (hopefully) be where Arthouse activities will be posted, along with any relatively pressing or urgent matters. From time to time, I may also tweak bits and pieces of our beloved arthouse site, or make seemingly senseless outbursts in html form.

Art House! At last night's award ceremony we received the awards for "Highest GPA" and more importantly, "House of the Year!" It has been a great year and we are so proud of everyone! Welcome back everybody! Spring quarter is a week underway and I can already feel the increased workload. Websites to create, objects to model, history to be learned... all in this, our final 11-week stretch of the school year.
I'm not sure how well received the previous post's article was, considering there was only one comment (albeit a very thorough one) from Laura. But I've found another article that makes for quite a good read. It's called "The Top 10 Things They Never Taught Me in Design School," via the blog Design Observer. The best thing about reading this now, of course, is that we are in school! What more could you want?
Spring Break Reading Material

Spring break has already begun for most of us, and Art House is slowly becoming empty. But this lack of school is no excuse to avoid keeping current on all things artistic. I bring this up because I stumbled on an article about design as an academic vs. vocational program, and though it is a few years old now, it still holds importance. It's not just for designers either, anyone in a client-based field will find relevance. Check it out here.
I was linked to the above article from another blog called The Graphic Student, which I have found to be a great source for inspiration and discussion, so go check them out as well.

Helvetica at RIT!

Just when I thought, "hey, wouldn't it be awesome if Art House could organize a screening of the Helvetica documentary here at RIT," somebody (my money is on AIGA... those thiefs!) has beat me to it. But that is no reason not to rejoice, because after all, we're getting a screening here at RIT with a director Q & A! According to the film's website, the screening is scheduled for Friday, May 11 (the weekend after the Spring Festival). No mention of the screening is on any RIT affiliated website, as far as I can tell. When more details become available, I will let you know.
