Sketchy at Best.

The first special-interest house on the RIT campus, Art House provides a creative and productive atmosphere for its members. This community strongly encourages members to share their ideas, opinions, and skills, so that promising artists may broaden their senses and open new creative avenues for themselves and those around them.

Easter with Art House

written on by Daniel Swan

This weekend we had an awesome time with the Easter egg hunt family event! Additionally we here at art house have been very active! The Toronto trip went amazingly, we had more people come than ever before! I went myself and while it was cold it was a great city to spend the weekend in.

Voting for the new executive board (e-board) is coming soon and our members are currently running fun campaigns for the elections. We happily anticipate to see fresh faces carrying the torch of Art House.

Art House Spring Quarter Video
Contact our historian Isar and submit videos of your experience this quarter in Art House! We always manage to have hilarious moments documented.

If you missed the meeting tonight we had people running for CIAS Senators give some speeches as well as Seahawk runners give a few talks as well.

Lots of stuff going on here at Art House! Be sure to check our Event Calendar so you don’t miss a thing!

Winter Quarter Week 7 Meeting

Nothing too much is happening, but remember to make activities guys! Make a sheet and put it on the wall so you can get the word out there. Campus-wide events count! FREEZE-FEST ANYONE? (Puppies and free stuff!) Everybody needs to make an effort for 4 activities which isn’t that hard. Staying on good standing with Art House is important if you wish to become part of alumni or even a candidate for e-board next year! In terms of off-floor community service, freshmen taking Pathways can count those community service hours for Art House.

There are plenty of on-floor opportunities!

  • As usual you can make 4 WTF posters to promote Art House, You’ll want to hand those to Lori with your name on the back!
  • Cleaning around the floor is also very awesome of you and counts for on-floor service
  • A good opportunity for now is to make an Art House T-Shirt design! Preferably a front and back design that promotes us. Everyone gets to wear your design and last year’s was pretty nice!
  • I am personally accepting art for the Gallery and banner designs for this website. When creating a banner design make sure it is a png and smaller than 960 pixels wide. Keep transparency in mind! If you want to send art for the gallery just email me directly with a png or jpeg.

There are also off-floor opportunities!

  • Like mentioned before you can use Pathways community service hours toward Art House
  • RIT is having an upcoming blood-drive on Monday the 28th “A Pint for a Pound” You get a pound of coffee! Yay! More event information here.

Laying Down the Bricks

Aside from the awesome revamp (if I do say so myself!) this week we have some other things happening. The famous Toronto trip is being finalized in plans as we get though van certification and the list of who is going. If you are new, you can learn a little more about the Toronto trip on our membership page. There is an SIH talent show on Week 7 of this quarter and a Minute to Win It event on Week 9. February 10th there will be a trip to Mendon Ponds where we will have a cabin to play games in, go sledding and other fun things. Floor inspection week of Jan. 21st, floor clean-up before then! We are working hard to find community service opportunities, if you or someone you know have an opportunity for us, shoot us an email (in the footer)!
