Winding down another great year…

Thats right ladies and gentlemen, it’s come again – the end of yet another year for us here at RIT. This summer will be particularly awesome, as we’re gearing up to sing at alum Tim Leverett’s wedding! Keep tuned for details on fall auditions! Until then, have a great summer!

NOAC (is less than a year away)!

It’s almost that time of the year again – no, not Single’s Awareness Day. No, not Public Sleeping Day. Not even Saint Patrick’s Day.

I’m talking about the 11th annual Night Of A Cappella! There’ll be singing, there’ll be awkward attempts at choreography, and yes – there will be a hilarious opening movie!

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, the 11th annual Night Of A Cappella (NOAC, for short) will be taking place Saturday, March 26th, at 8pm in Ingle Auditorium. Put it on your calendar now, as you won’t want to miss the most entertaining acappella show at RIT! Guest groups have yet to be finalized, but we’ll make sure we post that here as soon as we know who’s coming.

Look for tickets to go on sale soon from your favorite BCS member. Hope to see you there!

FellaCappella

I’m going to tell you a story:

Once upon a time, Surround Sound and BCS were contemplating the idea of having some sort of collaborative project to work on, to unite our groups as both friends and musical comrades. This idea flourished to become a full-fledged joint show, featuring both groups – we would sing our own sets and then -GASP- arrange songs to sing together! Thus, FellaCappella was born, an a cappella celebration of the best bromance to grace RIT – January 22nd at 7:30pm in Webb Auditorium. It’s going to be absolutely incredible. Start looking forward to us debuting a new song or two, as well as performing with our friends in Surround Sound! Tickets are on sale now from any BCS or SS member for $4, and they’ll be $5 at the door. Be there!

The End.

NEWBIES!!!!!

What’s that you say? It’s winter? We laughed at winter this year by taking in two new members and accepting back an old one! Andrew Hayworth is back with us on bass, promoting (or demoting, depending how you look at it) Jace Curran to baritone! We’ve also taken on Logan Thompson and Kurt Venezuela as new Tenor II’s, and reinstated Zoni in his rightful place as Tenor I! Kurt and Logan have a TON of potential, so needless to say we’re super excited. Go stalk them on facebook!

End of Quarter Update!

Wow. It’s been a bit more than ten short weeks since we first started our year with the audition process, and fall quarter is already over. We’re settling into the swing of things, and we’ve had an awesome quarter – so, since we haven’t posted on here in a while, it made sense to give you all an update! It’s gonna be a big one, so fasten your seatbelts and prepare to get in a car accident with KNOWLEDGE!

First, we’ve got a gig THIS WEEKEND (Sat. Nov 20) with RPI’s Partial Credit – the show starts at 8pm in Mothers in the RPI Union, so if you’re in the Troy area, definitely try to stop by! We’re so excited for our first road trip of the year and we’re honored to be visiting our friends at RPI!

Now some sad news: it’s with a heavy heart that we’ll be wishing farewell to baritone Dave Collins until next fall – he’ll be on co-op for the winter and spring quarters in sunny Philadelphia. He’ll be missed until then, but we definitely expect to see him at NOAC 11. Or else.

On that note – our eleventh annual Night of a Cappella (henceforth referred to as NOAC) is actually less than a year away! So we might as well announce the date so you can purchase plane tickets, reserve hotel rooms, and buy all of us gifts! NOAC 11 will be Saturday, March 26, 2011. We’ll have PLENTY more details as the date draws nearer, but it’s great to get that off our chest.

So, with all of that said, we plan to have an excellent Thanksgiving break after our show this Saturday. The Christmas season is almost upon us, so expect some caroling when we return! If you want BCS to sing some Christmas tunes at your event during the month of December, PLEASE book us using our website! You can also just shoot an email to business@brickcitysingers.org – we’re happily accepting gigs, so be sure to book us before someone else does!

Stay tuned for some groundbreaking surprises early next quarter!
