Collaboratively, the Hospitality Association and School’s administration work to organize events and fundraisers. The purpose of the fundraisers and events is to enrich student’s hospitality experience while benefiting the school, RIT, and the community.

’Tis the Season for Lovin’ and Givin’
Tuesday, December 21st, 2010
Now that Lovin’ Cup was all decorated for the holidays, students planned another fundraising opportunity over Winter Break. Guest’s tickets included live music and the holiday’s best brew. Guests could also frost lots of sugar cookies to take home. As a finishing touch, guests decorated Gingerbread ornaments for Lovin’ Cup’s Christmas tree.
East Rochester Adopt a Family Opportunity

Students collaborated on holiday fundraising opportunities to raise money to buy holiday presents for less fortunate families in Rochester. Together students picked out the perfect presents, wrapped the gifts, and delivered the presents to the families’ doorsteps.

Lovin’ Cup Holiday Decorating

On a snowy morning RIT Hospitality students decorated Lovin’ Cup Bistro with holiday decorations. Students worked together putting up a Christmas tree and hanging lights and wreaths around the bar and restaurant. This event promoted hospitality students donating their time and talent to help to a local business. It also prepared Lovin’ Cup with holiday decorations for student’s future event, ’Tis the Season for Lovin’ and Givin’.

New York City Symposium

RIT Hospitality Students who traveled to New York City presented educational insights to RIT faculty, Student Government and other hospitality students. Topics varied from tours of hotels to networking experience, and finally to seminars on current bed bug problems in New York City hotels.

New York City Hotel Show
Friday, November 12th - Sunday, November 14th, 2010
Students, faculty and staff traveled to New York City to attend the International Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Show. Over the weekend, students toured New York’s most well-known hotels including the London and the Marriott Marquis. Students were able to dine at two of restaurateur Danny Meyer’s locations and stay at a luxury hotel. RIT hospitality alumni mingled with current students at the annual Alumni Dinner and provided insight on the current state of the hospitality industry. Students gained a multitude of educational and real life experience which they were able to bring back to the department and school.

2010 Trick of Treat Bake Sale

Students put their culinary expertise to use and baked lots of Halloween treats and candies. Afterward, students sold their baked goods in the Student Alumni Union.

Alumni Dinner

Students, faculty and alumni gathered at the RIT Inn & Conference Center for our annual Hospitality Awards Ceremony. Students sold raffle tickets and mingled over a delicious meal with faculty and well respected alumni. The awards ceremony was an opportunity for current students to be inspired to achieve the same awards and acknowledgement.

A Taste of October

Students spent a great deal of time organizing their first fundraiser of the year at Lovin’ Cup Bistro. The event featured live music, beer samplings, Abbott’s Pumpkin Ice Cream for fall, a pumpkin decorating contest and delicious samplings as well. Special thanks to Lovin’ Cup Bistro and Abbott’s @ Park Point for their donations.
