In many countries Christians are beaten, imprisoned, and killed for following Jesus. In the United States most people would say “It’s fine that you believe it, just keep it personal.” We live in a progressively polarized culture between those that believe in a god and those that do not. At the same time we see this polarization compressing all faiths together as leading to the same god.
InterVarsity as a group of Christians believe that Jesus is the only way to know God because he came as God in the flesh. Jesus was hated by many but he loved the people no else loved: the prostitutes, homeless, tax collectors, sick, and criminals. He said "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." We declare that Intervarsity is full of "sinners", we are beggars who have found food that lasts and want to show others where to find their meal. Believing this means we want to love all people, from atheist to religious, more and not less.
“I Hate InterVarsity” will be a talk on what the people of the RIT campus should think of InterVarsity as a group of Christians. Come find out!
