Why We Exist
Purpose Statement
In response to God’s love, grace and truth:
The Purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is
to establish and advance at colleges and universities
witnessing communities of students and faculty
who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord:
growing in love for God,
God’s Word,
God’s people of every ethnicity and culture
and God’s purposes in the world.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the Son of God. He can to earth as a man about 2000 years ago. While here he lived the perfect life that no other human could, teaching and performing miracles throughout the Middle East. His teachings were controversial and offended the religious leaders, who finally had him crucified by the Roman government. But His death was not a surprise to God, instead it was the fulfillment of His divine plan to save mankind.
Everyone has done wrong things. The Bible says that God, in his justice, must punish wrongs, and the penalty is death. But Jesus dies in our place. He paid the penalty for sin that we deserved. Now through faith in Jesus we can have a real relationship with God.
At InterVarsity we come together from all races and cultures and spiritual backgrounds to simply find out for ourselves whether those things about Jesus are true. Contact us for more information.
