Hey People!
We’re part way into week four and IV is getting ready for some awesome meetings/events. Check out the rest of the newsletter for info on yum and next Sunday.

- Website
1. Yum.
Next Monday (Oct 1st) we will be putting on a Cupcake Social in the Fireside Lounge from 12-2pm.
The point of this event is to have a unique and different opportunity to meet students. Our goal is to have 700 cupcakes to hand out to people. We will have bowls of frosting there so that students have to stop and frost the cupcakes themselves.
What we need:
- People to commit to cooking 40-50 cupcakes each. If you don’t have a pan then it’s a great way to meet your neighbor.
- IVers to commit to coming to the event. This is a social so it shouldn’t be run by just 2 or 3 people.
You can drop your cupcakes off at Chelsea or Drew’s apartment on Sunday night or bring them to the Fireside lounge at 11:30am on Monday. Please or post below or email (Chelsea – cld9832@rit.edu, Drew – asmclean@mail.rit.edu) to let us know if you are cooking and when/where you will drop them off. Remember – don’t frost the cupcakes!
Thanks…this will be fun!!

2. Celebration, Jubilation, Shin-dig, Jamboree…
Super-fun is on its way! This Sunday (Sept. 30) will be our first meeting which will NOT be called Members’ Meeting (or “The Locker Room” or “The Gathering” or anything to do with chatting and fire). We’ve decided to drop the word members entirely. The idea of being a part of a team encourages the community concept much more than the idea of becoming a member, which is very individually focused. Any thoughts on nomenclature are welcome.
As for the meeting itself, there will be musical worship (potentially with a different worship team), prayer, and generally raucous celebration of the good things that God has done through IV in just the first month of this quarter. If anyone has a cool story to tell, please let me know! We’ll share things that we haven’t done well, and look forward to where we’re going next in pursing the vision to see Students and Faculty Transformed, Campuses Renewed, and World-Changers Developed. We will also be announcing our fall and spring mission trips!
3. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the ant and the virtuous.
The cupcake social may well be our most attractive event of the year (at least up to now). We are praying that we will be able to come in contact with many more students and faculty who come by Fireside for a delicious, frost-it-yourself cupcake. We know the power of prayer in preparing the hearts of people for the relationships that may begin as a result. In light of this, we will be organizing an overnight prayer vigil beginning Sunday after the unnamed meeting until the cupcake social the following day. There will be opportunities to sign up for an hour slot to pray as an individual or in groups (might be cool for small groups to do together).
4. The Search for Community: “Is there a place on campus where men and women treat each other with respect?”
Not just another relationships talk. Come see for yourself this Friday at 7pm in Webb Auditorium (7A).
5. Acronyms and aliens (GIGS and ET)
If you’re interested in leading a GIG (Group Investigating God), we have GIG support every Saturday morning from 9-10 in NRH 1250. Also, If you’re interested in being more intentional about spreading the good news of the gospel message, there’s an evangelistic Bible study, discussion, and training after GIG support from 10-11 in NRH 1250. Contact Val with any questions: val.tracy@gmail.com.
6. Ridiculous
