IV Newsletter 1.7

October 16th, 2007

Fellow students, faculty, and other interested parties,

Greetings.
I received some feedback that the creative titles after the outline,
while interesting, make it difficult to read by requiring continual
referencing of the outline. Let me know how this goes.

Outline

  1. Run/Walk for AIDS
  2. Faculty Appreciation Week
  3. Expedition
  4. Large Group (08-1250)
  5. Missions Projects
  6. Small Groups, Prayer, etc.

1. Run/Walk for AIDS (a free + donation 5K)
The posters are up! Spread the word about this Saturday’s 5K. It’s free to enter and run, but we suggest you give a donation to support the Bongolo Evangelical Hospital AIDS Clinic in Gabon, Africa. Register now to give the planning team a better idea of how many are coming: www.aid2aids.org

2. Faculty Appreciation Week :: “Remember that one time I learned something…thanks.”

This week is our first quarterly Faculty Appreciation Week. One way to serve others is to show your appreciation for all they do, so prepare a goody bag with a personal note of appreciation and deliver it to RIT faculty (and remember, faculty does not just include professors).

3. Expedition :: the adventure of a lifetime
It’s not too late to register for Expedition. The past three times I’ve gone, the InterVarsity fall retreat has been one of the most influential and transforming weekends of the year. It’s definitely worth the sacrifice to go, whether time or money. Contact Nicole for information about scholarships. More details

4.
Stoney: But David, I am popular! David: Yeah, you travel in s of one.

The Search for Community: “How far are you willing to forgive me?”
Come joins us Friday, October 19 at
7:00
-8:30pm in 08-1250 for a message from Pastor Brian Andrews about what it means to be a part of a forgiving community.
This Friday is also the exciting launch of a new initiative from our deaf leadership team. The entire group will meet together for musical worship, and every-other week the deaf will move to another location to hear a message from a deaf speaker. They will be discussing the Fruit of the Spirit as they relate to living in community.

5. Fall Missions & Guyana
Applications for our fall projects are available online. They are due to Belinda or the appropriate project leader no later than
October 22. See our service and missions page for more details.
Also, the Guyana Information Meeting is today (Tuesday, October 16) at 7:00pm
in Gleason A055

6. www.rit.edu/ivcf
is up and running. Our webmaster (some call him Tim) has been working hard at adding additional pages and features. If you haven’t seen the small group map, it’s too cool to miss. For that and any other info, the website is the way to be in the know.

I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing
metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like
fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown.

Grace and Peace,
