IV Newsletter 2.4
January 8th, 2008
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome back from Christmas break. Happy New Year to all. Lots of exciting things are in store for us, including Winter New Student Outreach and a new Large Group series.
Outline:
- Campus Prayer Walk
- Large Group (Series)
- Backstage Prayer
- January Jubilee!
- Prayer for InterVarsity (NEW!)
- Winter New Student Outreach Schedule
1. Campus Prayer Walk
The Campus Prayer Walk will begin in Webb Auditorium (7A-1350 where IV Large Group meetings are held) on Wed, Jan 9, at 8pm, and continue on to the various places where AGAPE, BASIC, BCM, & CCC hold their meetings, and ending by the residence halls. This is an amazing opportunity to come together as Christians and pray for the body of Christ at RIT. It’s going to be a powerful witness to God’s presence on campus as well. For InterVarsity, this will be a perfect chance to prepare the campus for our New Student Outreach efforts, as well as the efforts of our brothers and sisters in other fellowships. Don’t miss it!!
2. Large Group
This Friday (7-8:30pm in 7A-1350) introduces our new Large Group series entitled, “Does what you believe matter?” You should start to see posters going up around campus. This Friday’s talk is “Does what you believe about God matter?” Other talks will cover humanity, wealth, the end of the world, and sex. This series will be a great opportunity to invite your friends and people you meet through outreach events to come to Large Group.
3. Backstage Prayer
You may have noticed the large curtain behind the stage in Webb Auditorium. Starting this Friday we will be holding prayer backstage during Large Group meetings. It may seem like a funny concept to people, but as He always does, God will use those prayers powerfully to impact our meetings. If you’re interesting in getting into the rotation, Dave Ortiz is the man to know.
4. January Jubilee!
After Large Group this Friday is January Jubilee! It will be from about 8:45 to 9:30 in Webb. At this family gathering we’ll be formally introducing our spring break trips (other than Guyana), we’ll hear a report about the Mississippi trip and the LaFe conference. We’ll also have a time of discussion about two particular areas where we feel the chapter is not doing very well, and give you a chance to cluster up, discuss and pray about ways that we can serve our campus better in prayer and in integrating freshmen. You’ll get all the info on the upcoming Winter New Student Outreach efforts.
5. Prayer
The newly formed Prayer Coordination Team will be hosting Prayer for InterVarsity each Thursday 10-11am in Fireside Lounge. We are committing this hour each week to pray specifically for the vision of IV and our current needs. All are welcome to join us — this kind of corporate prayer support is vital to the health of our fellowship.
For information, email Adrian Munteanu.
6. Winter New Student Outreach
In your small group this week you should get Chelsea’s beautiful Winter Outreach Newsletter (admittedly, it looked a little better in color, but the content is just as impressive).
