IV Newsletter 2.8

February 5th, 2008

Friends and Family of IVCF,
Welcome to your week 8 newsletter. There’s a lot of cool stuff this week!

Outline

  1. Jubilee
  2. Leadership Nominations
  3. Help a brother out.
  4. ResLife Sock Puppets for Guyana
  5. Missions Info Meeting
  6. Large Groups

1. February Jubilee!

February Jubilee! is this Friday (2/8) right after Large Group in Webb, 8:45-9:30.
At January Jubilee we discussed prayer and how we can be more effective in outreaching to freshmen. This month we’ll give you an update on those issues, and bring another issue to the table: the effectiveness of Large Group. You’ll get a chance to discuss your thoughts on Large Group and what you think we can to to make it more effective in attracting the campus. We’ll also be celebrating what God is doing in GIGs!

2. Leadership Nominations.

It’s that time of year again! Click the link to fill out a quick survey. A Nomination Committee has been (or is being) formed of graduating seniors. They will take the nominations that you provide through this quick online survey to prayerfully fill next year’s leadership positions. If you have any questions about the process, see Article VII of our constitution.

3. Please Help Dave Graduate!

Our brother David Porter is conducting an experiment regarding spiritual coping and hope. He needs a bunch of “religious” people to fill out a brief survey for him (I looked over it, it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes). Go to the Center for Religious Life main offices (the interfaith center) during one of the following times: Tues/Thurs 10-12; Fri 9-12, 2:30-4:30.

4. ResLife Sock Puppets for Guyana

ResLife is hosting a Sock Puppet making program, and giving the puppets to our Guyana Trip! Next Monday (2/11) stop by the TV Lounge of the first floor of Ellingson, from 7-9pm.
Have fun with buttons and glitter and glue, and give a gift to a needy child in Guyana.

5. Missions info meeting.

If you’re interested in going on Habitat, NYCUP, or Mississippi this spring, don’t miss the missions info meeting this Friday before Large Group at 6pm in 7A-1400.

6. Large Group

This Friday in Webb Auditorium 7-8:30pm. Things may be a bit different this week, so don’t miss out. We’ll be talking about, “Does what you believe about the END OF THE WORLD matter?” Erik suggested we set off an atom bomb, but we’re restraining him…

While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he said this, he fell asleep. And Saul was there giving approval to his death.

Grace and Peace,
