RIT InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

IV Newsletter 1.1

September 1st, 2008

Greetings!

Classes are about to begin and along with classes, a whole slew of opportunities to have fun, fellowship with Christians, be challenged, and meet with God.

Outline

1. Service Opportunities
2. Upcoming events (Lots of them this week!)
3. Large Group

1. Help Wanted

If you are a returning student, are friendly, and have some free time this week or next from 11 AM-2 PM or 4 PM- 6 PM, we are looking for volunteers to sit at InterVarsity tables around campus. Please contact Allison for more information or to sign up for an hour or more.

2. Fun, fun, fun

2.1 Small Group BBQs are today, Monday, at 5 PM. Free food and an opportunity to meet students and small group leaders like you.

· If you’re a freshman, head over to the field behind NRH.

· If you live in an apartment, come to the Perkins beach volleyball courts (near the apartments numbered in the 100’s).

· If you are interested in social justice issues, weight lifting, or deeper fellowship with other women (for female students only, sorry guys), check out the BBQ in the field behind Gracies.

2.2 Oobleck Sports on Tuesday at 6 PM in the fields behind Gracies. Your mom always told you to have fun but not get dirty. Good thing she’s not here now. Praise God for free laundry.

2.3 Social Justice Fair on Thursday at 6 PM in the SDC (across from the College Grind on the first floor of Commons). Part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s vision is to develop world changers. Come see how students have made a difference and learn about how you can make an impact locally and globally.

2.4 Rochester Tours on Saturday leaving from Gracies at 1:30 PM. This year we have three tours of Rochester. You can choose to tour:

· The city’s non-profit organizations

· Local eateries

· Rochester attractions

2.5 Afterwards we’ll all be heading to Charlotte Beach at 5:30 PM for a beach party. If you missed the tours, meet us again behind Gracies at 5:30 PM for a ride.

3. Large Group!

Our first Large Group of the year is this Friday at 7 PM. We’ll be meeting in the Student Development Center (first floor of the Commons across from the College Grind) and learning about who God is as our Father. Afterwards will be a party you won’t want to miss (ice cream, mmmm…).

God bless you in your first week of classes. I look forward to seeing you all,

Arricka Nowland
