1. “Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.” (Psalm 105:1-2). It’s week 9 and it’s easy to feel discouraged, overwhelmed, or just tired. Be sure to talk with your friends about the things God is doing in your life.

2. October 31st

  1. Large Group, in the SDC 1300/1310, is not to be missed this Friday at 7 PM. In observation of All Saints Day, we will be honoring our brothers and sisters from around the world who have died for Christ.
  2. Afterwards, reverse trick or treating! Bring some candy and be prepared to bless this campus.

3. November 7th

  1. As we have done for the last few years, 10th week of the quarter we’re changing it up. We will be meeting at the SDC at 6:30 PM and instead of a speaker for Large Group, we will serve our community through various service projects including:
    • vacuuming dorm rooms (please contact Sara if you have a vacuum to lend)
    • cleaning apartments (please bring cleaning supplies)
    • writing thank you cards for FMS and Public Safety employees
    • loving senior citizens at a nursing home
    • handy work for a home for recovering alcoholics
  2. Jubilee Jamboree! At 9 PM, we’ll reconvene to worship God through music. Bring an instrument and join along.

4. If you’re looking to ride home in style this Thanksgiving break, check out the RIT InterVarsity Christian Fellowship facebook group and find someone to ride with on the Note about Thanksgiving rides (go figure).

5. InterVarsity needs a new T-shirt this year and we’re looking for people like you to design it. Take your time over Thanksgiving break, but be sure to include InterVarsity’s vision statement in some way. Send it to Tim and he’ll put it on the website for public viewing. We’ll be voting on the designs in Winter quarter.

6. This week is the perfect time to get prayer. Attend Fight Club (if you’re a guy) at 7:30 PM Sunday in 189B Perkins, After 8 (if you’re a lady) at 8 PM Sunday in 129C Perkins, or send your prayer requests to ritprays@gmail.com.

7. This weeks story comes from Alan Olson. He says:

I haven’t gone to Expedition before, and as it was coming up this year, I really wanted to go, but wasn’t sure if I would be able to because of all of the work and projects I had.  People encouraged me to sign up anyway and trust God with my workload for the weekend; He could either make it lighter or motivate me to get it done early.  So I registered, and guess what? A lab project got moved from starting 8th week to 9th week, another lab project turned out to be considerably easier than I thought it would be, and two of my classes didn’t have homework assignments for the weekend (for the first time this quarter). My workload for Expedition weekend miraculously got cut to 1/3 of what it normally is. Which is convenient, since Expedition is taking up 2/3 of what would be a normal weekend. Coincidence? I think not!

God is good. He honors those who honor Him (1 Sam. 2:30).

Don’t just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ’s servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God. Good work will get you good pay from the Master, regardless of whether you are slave or free.

The Lord be with you,
