2. Friday, November 7th, 2008
- It’s 10th week and time for our quarterly night of service. Meet in SDC 1300 at 6:30 PM. We’ll be:
-
- cleaning apartments (please bring cleaning supplies)
- vacuuming dorm rooms (please bring vacuums)
- thanking FMS and Public Safety
- playing Nintendo Wii with city youth (limited to 6 guys)
- cheering senior citizens at a local nursing home
- praying for our campus
2. Afterward, we’ll meet back at the SDC to continue worshiping God with instruments and voice. Bring any instruments you want to play. We’ll provide the chords on the projector. (If you want to see them beforehand to practice, we’re posting them on the website.)
3. This Sunday, November 9th, is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. I invite you to attend After 8 (if you’re female) or Fight Club (if you’re male) to join in lifting up our brothers and sisters who live for Christ despite persecution. After 8 is at 8 PM in Perkins 129-C and Fight Club is at 7:30 PM in Perkins 189-B. Check out persecution.org for more information on what’s happening around the world.
4. Remember to check out RIT InterVarsity’s facebook page if you need a ride home or can give a ride to someone for Thanksgiving Break.
5. Design a T-shirt for Intervarsity! Send your design to Tim and we’ll put it on the website to vote on in the Winter Quarter.
6. Storytime:
About Expedition, Yao Li wrote: In my Gearing up small group were immigrants from all over the world. It looked like a United Nations small group. On Saturday evening, the interpreter, Julie, asked to borrow my English Version for the Deaf Bible which is an easy to read Bible. With it she explained Bible basics to several of the students struggling with English and they understood what we were studying. God clearly had a purpose for me in my small group!
And He has a plan for you, too, wherever you are.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
God bless you,

Addendum to IV Newsletter 1.10
As you know, this Friday (6:30 PM, remember) is our quarterly service night. I forgot to mention a few things.
1. Pizza! When we reconvene in the SDC, we will have pizza. If you eat it (and even if you don’t), please donate a few dollars. Whatever we collect after the cost of the pizza will be donated to InterVarsity for more service trips (like the ones that take place over Spring Break).
2. Nursing home service project: the 12 or so people who cheer the senior citizens will be doing so via music. If you have a guitar or keyboard and want to serve in this way, please contact Matt Walter.
3. If you have experience caulking windows, please consider going to the Bridge House (a home for men recovering from alcohol addiction). They also need people to clean windows and winterize the property and can take 8-20 workers.
4. Just in case you forgot, our other projects are:
- vacuuming dorm rooms (contact Sara to loan a vacuum)
- cleaning apartments (please bring cleaning supplies
- thanking FMS workers
- playing Wii at Center for Youth (open to 6 guys only)
- praying for the campus
See you at 6:30 PM on Friday in SDC 1300/1310!
Arricka
