InterVarsity Newsletter 3.10

May 12th, 2009

1. No Large Group this week, instead, InterVarsity BBQ! 6 PM in the Frisina Quad (in between Ellingson and the Commons). Rain location is SDC 1300/1310.

2. God willing, I’m going to Urbana, you should come, too. Sign up before the price goes up in June. Like Basileia, you only have to pay $100 up front and Mark has scholarships.

3. If you want to be a part of summer IV, emailĀ  Dave.

4. Love Jesus. Pray for Servant Team. Do not neglect meeting together with other Christians. Read God’s word. God, your Father, longs for a relationship with you. He has things to tell you. Listen and obey. Encourage each other. Forgive. Be passionate about Jesus. He loves you.

‘ “And now all the years of preparation are over and you are on the threshold of what, I trust, will be your lifework. I know the Lord has been teaching you lessons which will have prepared you for much of what lies ahead, but in the real event it isn’t the lessons learnt which will help you; it is only Jesus realized, lived with moment by moment and obeyed. He must take you in hand from the word ‘Go’, and do His work in you. I believe that what He does in us and for us is far more important than the actual work we do. It is what we are that counts, and if we are to be of any use, it is Jesus living in us, so our chief preoccupation must be Him. ” ‘

Dr. Algie Smith, first missionary to Rwanda (in 1917), writing to a young missionary
