Why are Christians so intolerant and judgmental of alternative lifestyles? Do Christians hate homosexuals?

I don’t think they do. But God hates homosexuality (in the Bible some people were punished for being homos, Sodom and Gamorrah for example).

Many people who say they follow Christ hate homosexuals because they are different. The idea of intercourse with someone of the same gender startles and disgusts them, and they take it out on people who are homosexual.
In this area, it’s a good idea to look at how Jesus treated “sinners.” In John 8, some of the religious people of the day brought a woman caught in the act of adultery before Jesus. “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” Jesus replies, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” When the religious people heard this, they slipped away one by one until Jesus was left alone with her. Jesus said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”
Don’t get me wrong, the Bible does clearly say that homosexuality is a sin. My point is that as Christians, it’s not our job to condemn sinners, it’s our job to show people that they are loved despite their sin. Taking another Christian to task for his or her sin is one thing, but condemning someone who isn’t a Christian is not something Christians should do.

A lot of Christians are intolerant and judgmental of homosexuality because we are bigots. This is a sin for which the church needs to repent. We apologize for being part of a cultural sin against our homosexual sisters and brothers.
God loves sinners; Jesus is called “the friend of sinners”, and his close associates included prostitutes and corrupt bureaucrats.
God also decided what is right and what is wrong, and did not ask us to evaluate it. Polygamy is wrong. Incest is wrong. Abuse is wrong. Pornography is wrong. Lustful thinking is wrong. We don’t excuse those sins, even when they become socially acceptable or are explained by psychology as “natural”. Why should we excuse homosexuality?

I have a facebook group that spearheads this issue. Look for “Love sinners, Hate sin…Love Homosexuals, Hate Homosexuality”. I have been defending the Christian case for about 2 years now.

As a Christian, we look to the Bible as our final authority in all faith and practice regardless of anyone’s opinion. I am writing this because I love people (including homosexuals) and there is a short gospel presentation towards the end.
Homosexuality is considered an abomination in the eyes of the Lord. Here are some Old Testament and New Testament verses.
Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
This is pretty clear. “Thou shall not…” God says NO. “lie with mankind as with womankind…” sleep with a man as if you are sleeping with a woman. “it is abomination” abomination is defined as something detestable, an object of disgust.
Leviticus 20:13 “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an ABOMINATION: they shall surely PUT TO DEATH; their blood shall be upon them.”
God reinforces His hatred toward homosexuality, but not only that, they are to be put to death!
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor HOMOSEXUAL offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Isn’t this scary? Homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God! (aka Heaven) That leaves the other alternative…Hell! It is clear that Homosexuality is a SIN!
If you are a homosexual reading this, I plead with you to get saved. There is no such thing as a Homosexual Christian. A Christian is a child of God and looking at these verses, we can see that God hates homosexuality. It is a work of iniquity! (Psalm 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity) God hates the workers of iniquity!!
God loves you and wants you to be saved and go to Heaven when you die. It is simple to be saved.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;). Let me ask you, have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything before? Have you ever used God’s name in vain? If you said yes then you are a sinner.
2. REPENT of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ ALONE. (John 14:6 “I am the way the truth and the life; NO MAN cometh unto the Father BUT BY ME.”). Put your faith in Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ whose shed blood covered your sins to demonstrate His love for YOU personally. No works are needed for salvation. (1 Corinthians 15 1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ DIED for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was BURIED, and that he ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the scriptures.”
3. Once you have done that, you are saved. Please do not put this off. You have no idea how much longer you are going to be on this planet.
