Snow Globe Climb

January 21st, 2011 | Taylor Rose

Climbers and newcomers alike made the trek out to Red Barn this past Saturday to participate in the first
ever Snow GLObe Climb, a fundraiser for the Climbing Club. The barn was completely dark
except for the glow sticks that dangled from the ceiling and the headlamps that climbers were
using to see the holds. Naim Hakim was the awesome DJ for the event. By the end of the night,
everyone was dancing. Hopefully, there will be a lights-out climb at the barn again!

RIT Climbing Team goes to CT

April 18th, 2010 | Taylor Rose

The RIT climbing team recently traveled to New Haven CT to climb at a CCS comp hosted by at the CT Rock Gym. The setters put up some really fun and imaginative routes. They bought two of the new Growth hold by Jason Kehl just for the comp. They put up some cool routes on this feature, using the holds in the feature to make progress. Shout out to Lindsay for taking 2nd in Women’s advanced and Brennah taking 1st in intermediate. Good job ladies.

After the comp there was a fun dyno mini-comp. Several of our competitors signed up to try out their dyno skills. Pics should be going up on flickr soon.

Climb On,
Trose

RIT @ The Gravity Vault

March 26th, 2010 | Taylor Rose

Some of our competitively minded club members just got back from a CCS competition at the Gravity Vault in NJ.  I’m proud to announce that RIT placed 2nd at the comp with myself and Lindsay Reardon placing in the top 3 for men’s and women’s.  (Lindsay I can’t remember what place you got.  Post it in the comments).  Based on the results from the competition at West Point we should be tied for 1st place with Yale and Ramapo in the series right now.  I’m really proud of all the competitors right now.  I’ve already seen improvements from a lot of people just since the beginning of the quarter.  I am confident we are going to do well in the rest of the regional comps and hopefully we’ll crush at Nationals.  If not we’ll sure have a fun time trying.  Here’s some photos from the Gravity Vault comp.
