History
RIT SportsZone debuted on February 22, 2002. The student-run organization, led by directors Mark Fragale and Kevin Roche, produces a sports magazine show featuring student athletes, coaches, clubs and events at Rochester Institute of Technology. The SZ team consists of photographers, editors, graphic designers, producers, directors, reporters, web developers and a marketing team. SportsZone, a collaboration between ESPN, Time Warner Cable, and RIT, airs weekly in the Rochester television market on Time Warner Cable Sports Network and ESPN 2. In the Fall of 2014, RIT SportsZone will begin its 13th season of award-winning coverage of Tiger athletics.
SZ Live
In 2008, in an effort to create more exposure for its athletic programs, RIT decided to leap into the world of live sports broadcasting and invested in a state-of-the-art, high-definition production truck. After nearly four months of installing equipment and running cables, RIT's new crown jewel was operational - and SportsZone LIVE was born. The first broadcast aired on Time Warner Cable Sports Network on October 17, 2008, as RIT faced Clarkson in Men's Hockey.
SZ LIVE is scheduled to broadcast over 30 live athletic events during the 2014-15 season, including Men's and Women's Division I Hockey.
