SportsZone’s Latest State-of-The-Art Endeavor
In 2008, in an effort to create more exposure for its athletic programs, RIT decided to leap into the world of live sports broadcasting and invested in a state-of-the-art, high-definition production truck (the first of its kind outside of New York City). After nearly four months of installing equipment and running cables, RIT’s new crown jewel was operational – and SportsZone LIVE was born.
The first broadcast aired on Time Warner Cable Sportsnet on October 17, 2008, as RIT faced Clarkson in Men’s Hockey. With the help of broadcasting professionals and students, SZ LIVE went on to produce nearly 30 broadcasts in its first season, including Men’s and Women’s Hockey and Men’s Lacrosse.
