Representatives communicate to staff and act as a conduit providing their feedback and insights on university issues. Staff Council Contributions to RIT Governance

  • Pedestrian safety task force
    President Destler formed the Pedestrian Safety Task Force as a result of Staff Council constituent concerns regarding use of bikes and longboards on the Quarter Mile.
  • Accelerated implementation of smoking policy
    Staff Council worked with other governance groups including Academic Senate and Student Government to eliminate the 3-year waiting period for implementation proposed in the revised version of C 16.0 Tobacco-Restricted University Policy.

Congrats to RIT basketball head coach Bob McVean, honored by the RIT Athletics Department for winning his 500th game at the university last weekend! 

Kudos to Sharon Kompalla-Porter who be co-facilitating a webinar about food insecurity on college campuses and highlighting the important work of the RIT FoodShare!

Jonathan Ntheketha, senior assistant director for First Year Initiatives and Summer Bridge and Tina Chapman DaCosta, diversity theater program developer, were featured as panelists at the Little Theatre's Black Cinema Series showing of Get Out.
