Sol Heumann Study Center
The Sol Heumann Study Center is a learning space on campus open to all students at RIT, with a focus on the academic needs of the first year students. Located in the residence halls, this study center is at the doorstep of the first year students who make up a majority of the population of these buildings. The Study Center has been made possible through the support of the AIM program, Academic Support Center, Residence Life and Housing Operations.The Sol Heumann Study Center is located in 47-1016 and offers the following services under the supervision of the Academic Support Center:
Math and Physics Tutoring
Drop-in TutoringTrained math and physics tutors can help with questions from homework, lecture notes, textbooks, practice quizzes & practice tests. Available Mon., Tues., Wed., and Thurs. from 7pm - 10pm during the fall, winter and spring terms.
Study Skills Support
Evening Workshops and PresentationsA series of one hour workshops are offered each academic quarter on Tuesday evenings at 8:00pm in the Sol Heumann Study Center. Topics include Time Management, Lecture Note Taking, Text Reading, and Test Preparation. All workshops are free to RIT students, faculty, and staff. No appointment or RSVP needed.
Evening Individualized Instruction and Coaching
Individualized study skills instruction is available on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Appointments can be made with a study skills specialist to examine the skills and strategies presented in the workshop series or on the "Learning Power Online" website in more depth. Additional Support
The Sol Heumann Study Center is an extension of the services offered by the Academic Support Center in their primary location in the Eastman Building.
