Vision Statement

The Academic Support Center (ASC) will be a leader in maximizing students' potential for academic success.

Mission Statement

The Academic Support Center (ASC) provides flexible and innovative services to enhance the academic and personal success of students. The ASC also partners with other RIT faculty and staff to tailor support services to the specific needs of departments and students.

Values

  1. The ASC values the potential of students and is committed to supporting their academic and personal success.
  2. The ASC values each faculty and staff member within its center and is committed to treating colleagues with respect and dignity.
  3. The ASC values collegial relationships with faculty and staff across the Institute.
  4. The ASC values diversity, ethical decision-making, hard work, and professional growth.

Goals

  • Provide instruction in the academic skills of reading, writing, mathematics, studying, selected content areas, and tutor training;
  • Provide approved academic accommodations and interventions for students with disabilities;
  • Provide academic assessment and intervention programs that lead to student success and growth; provide referrals to other campus resources;
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout the Institute to provide programs and services for students;
  • Pursue scholarly activities and professional development in pedagogy, learning theory, student development and selected content areas; promote sound teaching practices throughout the Institute.
