"The ASC is like a safety net: a place for RIT students to get back on their feet."

EMPOWER is a fee-based service offered through the Academic Support Center (ASC) to all RIT students. Students who choose to enroll in this service will work with a mentor either once or twice a week to set goals and build skills to overcome challenges.
During the regular meetings the student will work with the mentor to achieve the objectives of EMPOWER:
Empowering students to build academic foundations through knowledge of time management, organization, and academic strategies, which are the skills essential for academic success.
Empowering students to reflect on their academic progress in courses and gain a realistic understanding of their standing based on grades and course progress.
Empowering students to be aware and utilize appropriate campus resources to increase their ability to be successful.
Empowering students to increase self-advocacy skills in their academic programs and course work.
Empowering students to acquire the skills necessary to be academically independent and successful. Students may be encouraged to utilize academic support services to supplement mentoring.
