The ASC Study Skills team helps students develop appropriate study skills and habits to achieve academic success. Services provided in the area of Study Skills include the following:
Workshops and Presentations
“Lunch ‘n’ Learning:” A series of one hour workshops offered each academic quarter on Time Management, Lecture Note Taking, Text Reading, and Test Preparation. All workshops are free to RIT students, faculty, and staff.
Individualized Instruction and Coaching
Individualized study skills instruction is available on a limited basis. Make an appointment with a study skills specialist to examine the skills and strategies presented in the “Lunch ‘n’ Learning” Series or on the “Learning Power Online” website in more depth.
Discover your strengths in learning and study strategies. Take the LASSI Learning and Study Strategies Inventory. A study skills specialist will outline specific suggestions to apply your strengths and give you strategies that can assist to enhance areas that need attention.
Consult the Academic Support Center quarterly flier for additional workshops and for specific dates, times, and topics.
On-line Resources
“Learning Power Online:” A self-directed website covering the basics of Time Management, Lecture Note Taking, Text Reading, and Test Preparation. Included in the site is an up-to-date list of related links that connect to a variety of other study skills websites.
